Víctor Merino

As Engineer and Superintendent, he worked in the fields of mine planning, developing short, medium and long-term mining plans for sulphide and copper oxide mines. He has wide-ranging knowledge of metallurgical processes on concentrate and hydrometallurgy.Víctor has extensive experience in the mining operation sector. 

As mine manager for the Gabriela Mistral mine, he was in charge of staff selection and recruitment processes, development of OHS plans, protocols and guidelines, operational planning, commissioning of large-scale mining operations, continuous improvement and implementation of new operation practices and technologies. The autonomous haulage system technology implemented at Minera Gaby S.A. is one of his highlights.

As mine manager for the construction, commissioning and operation of the Caserones Project, Víctor conducted the engineering and construction of the wall for the slime dam, the access roads, mine and tunnel pre-stripping for slime haulage. During the operation phase, he was responsible for the short and medium-term mine planning, mine-crusher operation, and mine maintenance procedures.

As the Manager of Strategic Planning and Management Control, he led the processes of cost management, budget generation and control, investment assessment, implementation of cost reduction plans, and contract negotiations with suppliers of materials, consumables and services for the mining business.   

He also managed bidding processes and technical-economic assessments for purchase and supply of materials, consumables, and services when serving as service manager.

As Head of Mining, Resources and Reserves of SRK Consulting, he participates and leads the development and evaluation of multidisciplinary engineering projects for different clients in Chile and abroad.

He is a member of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Chile, Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM) and Competent Person of the Mining Commission of Chile for Resources and Reserves.
